The House As-Is

We're here!  And we're working our fingers to the bone to make this house our first beloved home!  Don't get me wrong--it already feels like home, but it isn't yet "OUR" home with our own stamp on it. 

But with a few *dozen?* gallons of paint to come, it will get there over the next few years!

And we hope to get HOA permission to paint the shutters and door a different color than faded-out hunter green!

View when you walk in the front door and go ahead and right into the Living and Dining Rooms

Once you walk through the LR and into the DR, you can turn and better see the kitchen than from the small doorway by the front door.

So far, you've already seen our 3 biggest purchases to date: Fridge, washer,and steam dryer.   But due to some things not inspected in the inspection, we have ordered a new stove, dishwasher, and microwave (which we did know needed replacing since the inspection).  We were going to wait until April-ish to replace those when we re-do the kitchen, but that project has been moved up after all of our scrubbing and seeing just how dirty and beyond-function the appliances were upon arrival!  And the cabinets have been scrubbed and papered, but I'd still feel cleaner after they're painted!


If you had turned left near the front door, you would go down the hall to the master rooms on the back of the house.

The toilet is sadly isolated and therefore needs storage above it for potty essentials...and a toilet roll holder that we're going to install as soon as the spackle dries! 

At the end of the hallway, beyond the Master entry is the guest bath.  We've already replaced the leaky shower-head and faucet to a lever-handled, kid-friendly faucet since our son is learning to wash his hands and is used to that handle.  Next to go when we get to this room on the project list will be ripping down that perfume-bottle border around the top of the walls and switching out that pitiful single light fixture!

And on the front of the house are the current "Yellow" and "Blue" rooms...soon to become "Son's" and "Guest" rooms, respectively.  Since our home was a foreclosed home before we bought it, the bank had cleared lots out of our way before we moved in...not the dirt, but the closet doors and even one of the pull-out trays from a kitchen cabinet that had been loose/broken!  And the crayola fans (not pictured) in both of these rooms will be going out to the trash PRONTO! 

And finally, upstairs, over the garage, is our Bonus Room.  The previous owners' pet made himself a pee corner that requires us to re-carpet and replace a section of the base molding trim as well!  Aside from that, it is a great space for Hubby's home-office area, my scrapbooking zone, and will eventually also house a guest bed when we need the 3rd main-floor bedroom for any future kid(s).  The upstairs also provides access to the floored walk-in attic (there is also a pull-down access in the main floor hallway, but that part isn't floored (yet).

There you have it.  Welcome to our humble abode, as we found it.  Let the renovation work begin...you know, after we buy some new IKEA storage shelves and some No-VOC gallons of paint!
