Trim Work (Part 1)

There is much work on trim of all kinds to be done around here, but phase 1 is finally done.

Our first priority when we moved in was to decorate our toddler son's bedroom to help him get settled in the new house. 

We had painted some blocks of color on the wall as a feature with plans to add white molding-trim to frame them....

That was 5 1/2 months ago.

But it's finally done!  44 feet of decorative trim, and about $24 later, his room is still almost complete!  (His carpet will be replaced for laminate wood like the rest of the first floor by the end of June....along with the other 2 bedrooms)

Also, not pictured, we learned a lesson.  Though his room doesn't get hot (it never gets direct sun on the north side of the house), the boy takes after his father and sweats like a dog when sleeping.  So to help him sleep a full nap rather than waking up mad in a pool of sweat every day, we replaced his light yet again.   We removed the $5 IKEA light fixture and put in a small white fan with a light. 

 And we got the same one to put in the guest room/future nursery (someday, but no, not yet) too. 

But don't worry!  The 2 $5 IKEA lights will conveniently help us on our Rid-The-House-of-All-Ugly-Brass project by replacing 2 of the 3 remaining brass flush-mount fixtures in either the master closet, hallway, and guest bathroom.
